New Timetable and Structure !
This program is targetted for the 2010.1 Sitting.
NEW VAQ SECTION
We are going to try and utilise the VAQ section of the web site and other teaching
tools to "prepare" for the tutorials.
Mock SAQ / VAQ / MCQ questions will be
put on the Web site each week and are to be attempted before the

This weeks can be found here
As we have plenty of time we will be following the Fellowship Study guide in the 2009 Training Handbook
Tutorials will be consist of SAQ / VAQ writing and also MCQs when available. As we are still months from the 2010.1 sitting we will also have time for structured tutorials.

TUTORIAL QUESTIONS are HERE & HERE &HERE
CLINICAL EXAM FOCUS !
All candidates are expected to not only participate in the SCEs as EXAMINERS but also to PREPARE SCEs for presentation.
A guide for TOPICS can be found here
SCE structure consists of
- 3 Minutes for reading
- 7 Minutes for presentation
The opening question is given outside the room as part of the reading.
The remaining presentation usually consists of 4 sub-questions, often ending on a non-clinical management issue
There are now EQUIPMENT SCEs and COMMUNICATION SCEs with actors.
The first hour of the tutorial will be spent reviewing these questions.
This will be followed by Topic Discussions which will be followed by reviewing
PAST PAPERS for Key Point review of that topic.

PART II
Welcome to the Part II Training program. This
can be is quite difficult to organise in order to make allowances
for two exams a year.
At this stage I have decided
to follow the SCGH program. It is intended to be completed
for the EOY exam with one-to-one adjustments made for those who need to sit/re-sit at the beginning of the following year. The syllabus
as we all know is extensive. The purpose of the tutorials, however,
is not to teach knowledge, but to review knowledge already gained and for candidates to
learn exam technique.
Running through the syllabus
is a way of keeping an orderly pace through everyone’s reading.
The SUB-TOPICS are special areas that need specific review that have
been common past questions or not well covered in day to day work
The 90 minute tutorials will consist of…
- There will be mock exam questions consisting of VAQ’s, MCQ’s
or SAQ’s based on the main topic of the day. This will
occupy the first 30 minutes of each session.
- The VAQ’s and MCQ will be marked at the tutorial.
- SAQ's will initially be discussed by the tutorial group, but closer exam time they will be marked by the Consultants and returned the following
week.
- The tutorials will encompass not only basic science on the topic
but consultant level issues. They will when able include Radiology
and Equipment reviews.

This is the older program, which I have left on as an example for those planning to keep their reading going at a slower pace. New format also introduced where sub-topic presentations are presented in a ten minute format. This will be adapted to SCE format closer to the exam.
